Four Student Authors Going On Tour
(Uniontown, Ohio) Four Lake High School students spent the summer of 2004 writing
novels in a pilot program. The novels have been published and the students will be going on
tour to promote their books. Local residents can meet the authors and buy an autographed
copy of the books as their tour kicks off on Saturday May 21st at the Hartville Marketplace from
10 a.m. - 3 p.m. The tour will conclude at the Alive Music Festival in Canal Fulton on June 25th
and include many stops along the way.
This project not only involves the four student authors, but two local artists and students in
Suzanne Arnold’s junior and senior Marketing classes at Lake High School. The program is
sponsored by Bill Jelen, a local author and publisher of books on Microsoft Excel. “Competition
is fi erce in the publishing industry,” says Jelen. “This program gave Lake students a chance to
learn about the publishing industry. I am proud to show off the talents of our Lake students.”
The four authors are: Lee Galada, a junior at LHS and author of the sci-fi novel A World of
Difference; Tessa Hershberger, a senior at LHS and author of Confessions of a Girl; Ashley
Henneman, 2004 graduate of LHS and author of The Hearts’ Flames; and Josh Moorhead, a
2004 graduate of LHS and author of Bakers Dozen. Lake artists Megan Hawranick and Evan
Middleton contributed artwork for two of the book covers.
Lake High School was the pilot school in 2004 for the Fresh Writers program. The program
has been expanded to several schools in 2005 and will be expanded statewide in 2006. Make
plans to attend the tour kick-off on May 21st at the Hartville Marketplace to meet and support
our local young authors.
